A short fragment with a distinct research role
KPV is lysine-proline-valine, the C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, or alpha-MSH. Its experimental interest concerns inflammatory signalling rather than the full hormone’s melanogenic activity. Research describes signalling that is not explained simply by full melanocortin-receptor agonism; this distinction should not be taken as a complete account of its mechanism.
Preclinical investigations include gastrointestinal inflammatory models, dermatitis-like models and wound-repair assays. Reported observations involve NF-κB signalling and pro-inflammatory cytokine output. These are model-specific findings, not established human applications.
Transport and cellular context
Intestinal uptake is another relevant research question. KPV is transported by the peptide transporter PepT1, whose expression can increase in inflamed colonic epithelium. Murine gastrointestinal studies have investigated this relationship and localisation in inflamed tissue. Work in human keratinocyte models has also examined melanocortin-receptor and downstream NF-κB pathways; human-derived cells are not equivalent to human clinical evidence.
Comparisons with BPC-157 or TB-500 in gastrointestinal models, and GHK-Cu in dermal models, can frame questions about overlapping and distinct pathways. They do not establish that these compounds are interchangeable.
Reference material and further context
Small size and water solubility do not establish stability under every laboratory condition. Material review should examine batch-linked analytical records, including the scope of HPLC testing, rather than rely on a general purity or stability claim.
The KPV reference profile and BPC-157 research overview provide compound-specific context. The wider peptide catalogue offers further research and ordering information. These materials are for laboratory research only, not human consumption.
