What is DSIP?
DSIP is a naturally occurring nonapeptide originally isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood. Research focuses on delta-wave EEG modulation, stress-axis effects and circadian biology.
Mechanism of action
Modulates EEG delta-wave activity and stress-response peptide release.
Primary research areas
Sleep architecture, stress and circadian research models.
Research notes
- Very short systemic half-life — typically delivered as a research tool compound.
DSIP: expanded research context
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a nine-residue neuropeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) first isolated in 1977 by the Monnier and Schoenenberger group from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits during electrically induced slow-wave sleep. Despite five decades of study, no dedicated DSIP receptor or gene has been identified, which is why it remains one of the more debated peptides in neuroendocrine research.
Laboratory interest centres on its reported interactions with sleep architecture, stress-axis signalling (ACTH and corticotropin release), luteinising hormone modulation and oxidative-stress markers in animal models. DSIP crosses the blood–brain barrier in some experimental preparations, a property that makes it a reference compound for peptide-transport studies.
Regena supplies DSIP as a lyophilised research reagent, HPLC-tested to ≥99% purity with mass-spectrometry identity confirmation. It is intended for in-vitro and laboratory reference use only and is not for human consumption.
